This is really mind blowing and beyond human capability of imagination. I mean, I can't even imagine the size of the sun, let alone Vy Canis Majoris. And I thought that my bedroom was quite big!

The thing is no one can no for sure. We are not intended to know everything. We all think we know so much because we are prideful humans and we don't like to be wrong obviously. There are just some things we can't fathom and we all have a thing called FREE WILL given to us! We are not animals we are Sentient creatures. All i know is i base my thinking on cause and effect.. Something created something. If you can prove a case where something was created from nothing i will reconsider, but not until then.

For one you have to define "life" and then try to find any relevance that has in the universe. If there is no relevance then you have your answer.

Here's what i Think, i think that there IS life out there some where. Our sun is a star, and at night we see lots of stars out there, so i think that next to those stars are planets, just like ours, and an earth just like ours, and an orbit and an atmosphere, containing Oxygen and gravity, and they spin around there sun, just like our earth does, and hell, for all we know there could be humans just like us. Or even Dinosaurs!! But I have many doubts that the fact that there are aliens. I mean seriously, short, green, bug eyed men with antenas on there head, and they have Giant Brains and carry laser guns?? WTF People??

It is estimated that about 6 million gallons of oil has been leaked into the ocean and might probably affect the oceans in the west coast and east coast. If you are a Google Earth user you can download this to view the imagery of the oil spill in Google Earth. In addition to downloading the KML file for Google Earth users can also track the spill by visiting the Crisis response page at .

Yes, I believe life exists in the cosmos. In fact, I feel that there's life around every star out there! My reasoning being that where there's light and heat there's life.

every single religion has admited that "He is the God of all universe"
OR
prophets have been chosen to preach human being and the whole universe.
Many signs in scripture verses giving us clues about life outside the Earth and more interesting than that is the Darvin Evolution Theory. ;-)

I know for sure there is life somewhere out there, and maybe even more then we would like. To people who do not believe this, and still take god and devil responsible for all kind of things and granted:
The world is not flat anymore, we are not in the centre of the universe.
Our good old earth is the 3rd planet in orbit around the sun. The earth is so tiny compared to the sun. But the sun is only a small spot in our milkyway, what is concisting out billions of stars... and... there are also billions of other milkyways as well.... so the possibility we are alone is even smaller then the possibility there is life somewhere.
Maybe we will never know where and if, because of the huge distances between stars and galaxy's. That is the big problem for now. Maybe in a few hundreds or thousends of years from now they find a way to travel, but for now, with rocket speed, it will just takes millions of years to reach the nearest star then the sun. The speed of light is 300.000 km/hr that is 7x around the earth in 1 second. That is also earth-moon in about 1.5 sec. and that is 8 minutes to the sun. The next "sun" is 4.5 lightyears away!!! not seconds like the moon or sun.... but YEARS. Our Galaxy (milkyway) is 100.000 lightyears across, and the next galaxy (andr0meda) is about 2 million lightyears away from ours.... etc etc...

Some people say that the idea of life on another world is a far too fantastic possibility. These people would argue that it is the sort of thing of Science Fiction, but given the sheer scale of the universe, it is infact fantastic and absurd to even concider our planet being the only to have life, both sentient and insentient. Many scientist believe that there is infact enough evidence to argue that there may well be life on other planets in our own solar system, although these would be mere extremophiles in caves of Mars or in pockets of water in the vast icey seas of Europa. It would be very closed minded to argue that we are the only sentient life form in the entirety of existence.

To those theists who argue that their God considers our planet to be special and our form to that of their God, why should He be limited to having only one planet to which he directs his love? I was lead to believe that you considered Him to be an infinitive, all-knowing, all-powerful entity. This would lead me to understand that He would be capable of caring for infite beings across the entire universe. Myself, I do not believe in such a being, but to those who do, surely the idea of extra-terrestrial life makes perfect sense.

The idea of meeting another sentient life-form, on the other handed, is an extremely ridiculous idea. This is also due to the fact that the universe is so massive. It's size practically guarantees other life but also prevents contact. It would be like needles finding each other in a haystack far larger than our own world. Never-the-less, the idea of contact is an amazing one and would be a wonderful experience for both species (until they decide to assimilate us).

I believe their is life everywere if you think about it. Science have discovered many chemicals and thousands of cells and organisms in recent years. Not all of them are alive either. Our Galaxy and other universes are created by so much matter. I bet there are even materials that humans have not been discovered. Scientists always have very interesting conclusions about the formations of our home planet earth. But what do we no.

Space is so unbelievably big that it is a ridiculous idea to conclude that we should be the sole example of developed life forms in existance.
For example, if there is life surrounding only 1 in every 500 billion stars, then there will be over 200 million civilisations out there!

Anyway who thinks that of the trillions of planets across the universe we are the only life forms seriously needs to put themselves into perspective...

That's because LIFE does not always need OXYGEN in order to survive!
i.e. microorganism like anaerobic bacteria survive without oxygen, in the opposite, they won't survive if they get oxygen as it's poisonous!! : )

"so far we are the most unique planet to house fleshly inhabitants."
We have not even touched the shore of the universe, we haven't stepped beyond the moon, how can we come to such conclusions considering the vastness of space?

"a belief in Other lifeforms precludes god."
No it does not.

"God made one earth and all the rest is decoration so to speak."
You are not god, nor do you know the mind of god. If god wanted to just make decorations, he could have just stuck a bunch of lamps in the night sky instead of creating such an enormous space with galaxies and planets much like our own.

I dont believe in life on other planets, well significant life anyway, i dont really care if microscopic thingies live in a teeny bit of matter. God (christ) has a work to do here, i do not believe he is divided as to be working with 2 or a bunch of different worlds full of humanoid lifeforms, because christ only can make use of humans in flesh. Flesh is important to finding god because it is so opposite to god therefore god would never create, who created all, an alternate form of life to obtain the rewards he has planned for us. So ifi its big eyed, slender, scaley reptilians, or ether floating brains hehe, or a shapeshifting whatever, god didnt make it, so it dont exist. Its not part of his plan, man. :0)

Vj,

I strongly believe life exists outside earth. Infact may be much more talented intellectual beings are outside. Whatever may be our inventions I would say we might still be very primitive and our equipments may be way old for someone else. Atleast we can be happy that we are also inventing.

I love the movie 'Star Wars' just for the same reason. Unbelievable imagination as people take their vehicles from one planet to another just like they go to another street. There are sequences where presidents of various planets attend a Parliament session of the entire galaxy! No wonder the star wars series still taking most positions in IMDB ratings. The creatures in the movie may be ugly. I believe that's how we are already in the eyes of dogs and cats.

There cannot be Miss.World & Miss.Universe. We crown ourselves as if there is no other living being in this World or Universe! We as Humans believe that the World is within us and end up in trivial things. That's the reason we have unnecessary chaos in the life a Human leads on earth. Imagine something like in the movie 'Independence Day' happens? That's the end of road for all social evils like terrorism, war for oil, murders, thefts, eve teasing, rapes....etc., etc., (Oof the list goes on & on)

No wonder we may be even treated as insects in someone Else's planet. We as such I say the entire Universe! 50,000 feet above we certainly are insects even in our own eyes.

No harm! Humans can talk with each other sharing their opinions whether there is life outside or not? But we are so little to conclude the topic. Infact noone can conclude this topic!

I thought Kepler mission is only about planets and stars. Does the project objectives also include 'life search' as well? That's news!

That aside, what do you think? Is there life outside earth?
