ilbrutto,

Unbelievable to hear that you were covered by water just for the sin of trying to be a spectator! Thanks to God yet again! Noone is spared without a defining moment in life!

MKP,

Vacation is over! Santy is back :-)

71 % of earth is covered by water! Humans are among other living species in this undiscovered solid circular rock named as 'Earth' by them. Taxonomists have identified less than two million distinct species, mostly mammals and birds living in this so called earth. But it's estimated that the number of undiscovered species—primarily fish, fungi, insects, and microbes—ranges from ten million to more than one hundred million. Even at the low estimate, it's an enormous number! Still humans think they are the only living being!

Why I say this on a Tsunami column? According to me Tsunami is just another inexperienced disaster! Standing 9 floors above ground level, from my office window I see tiny concrete built houses with ant like living beings! That's how we are and that's the truth! Truth is always unacceptable!

We are micro living beings living on the surface of a revolving rock which is revolving among all other huge rocks in an unexplained and unexplored space! It takes only few years (As per our clock) or few milliseconds (As per actual clock) when one rock smashes head on with the other!

Didn't I tell you few years for that to happen? So no worries humans can continue robbery, rapes, terrorism, war for oil, mass murder, bribery, adulteration, fight for caste, sub-caste, religion, colour, gender, kid-napping etc., etc., All until expected unexpected happens!

Tsunami certainly should have opened many eyes! If not many atleast few! After all we are sticking by so called gravitational force on the surface of a revolving rock right? ;-)

Ohhh...
I still remember its on DEC 26th - The Boxing day, The T-Day, The D-Day. Christmas celebrations are yet to complete. I heard the news from my friend and we rushed to marina beach in our rusty old bike, we struck when water leveled with our silencer. People are screaming, restricting crowd not to enter beach. Its a complete khios & mess every where. The rescuers along with local supporters are taking the dead bodies and cleaning the debris. I hardly see the private ambulance around (may be they were not in my visinity). The panic was alive for one more week as the threat for Jr. Tsunami was on its way across news channels. Thank god we didn't witness one more.
The charity works across offices, social service org's & relief funds were on for a year for the need ones. People having fun at beach, residents having beach view, people enjoying their vacation at beach resorts lost thier life in no time. What little a human can do except going in mute when nature shouts and wild for a while. Well said, all our great achievements, inventions and proud momments are nothing before nature.I completely agree with your last para.

I've said this but I'll say it again. It was such a scare during that time and the nightmares used to scare me to death. I hope we never get a tsunami again.

The sea water has become closer to the road after tsunami. Tsunami gave me a lifetime experience. A friend and I had gone to the beach to see the impact. We were almost swept away by the waves when fishmermen rescued us. We were neck deep in water and I thought that was it. I still remember secretly disposing all the wet sand from my pants pockets into the toilet bowl so that my parents won't find out what could have happened to me!

A huge number of people had died on that spot that morning. I still have grand nightmares about sea entering our streets. After seeing the Marina beach, I could very easily imagine 30-feet high waves rushing into Pyrofts road with great force and noise. It had become so real. Even now I feel uncomfortable 'standing in the water' at the beach and expect a wave to sweep me off my feet.
